He became the owner of AES in 2004, following a distinguished career at Guaranty Chevrolet and RV Super Centers, a family business founded by his father, Herb Nill. His acquisition came shortly after AES completed a landmark project: the installation of 616 solar panels at the renowned Kettle Chips factory.
With over two decades of experience, Eric has led AES to become a leading name in Oregon’s solar industry, boasting major installations such as the impressive 1750 kW array at the ODOT Baldock site.
A native of Eugene, Oregon, Eric’s love for the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty was nurtured from a young age. Family trips to the Oregon coast and the Cascade mountains, along with his involvement in the South Eugene High Ecology Club, deepened his appreciation for the environment. His commitment to environmental causes continued through his college years at Pomona College, where he volunteered for various ecological and refugee initiatives.
During his graduate studies at the University of Oregon, Eric was actively involved with the Survival Center, organizing activities such as whale watching and forest hikes. His dedication to environmental stewardship extends to his long-standing service on the board of the Willamette Resources and Educational Network (WREN), where he has been a member for a decade.
